How is Rooibos Tea Made?

The unique Rooibos plant (Aspalathus linearis) is found in the Cederberg Mountains 250 km north of Cape Town, South Africa. This is the only place in the world where this tea plant grows naturally.

The Red Tea Detox

Rooibos leaves are dried and fermented on large concrete drying floors. Of course they sunlight is needed. These drying floors has raised sides to protect tea from sand, dust and often wind screens.

The next step is transportation of Rooibos to the processing facility. In those premises, Rooibos undergoes a sifting process which removes any foreign material.

The final product of that process is then sterilised by steam. To make sure that the highest quality is achieved, comprehensive control system is in place. The final product undergoes several tests by independent laboratory. All this is done to ensure that you (the end customer) receive only Rooibos Tea of the highest quality.
